Oh, the places you’ll go!
Looking for another challenge to get out and explore our Willamette watershed? Complete the Willamette River Festival Geocache Treasure Hunt and earn a chance to win a prize!
You might be asking… what is a geocache?
Geocaching is the world’s largest treasure hunt! Using a set of clues and a GPS tracking device, participants will find their way around (in this case, our upper Willamette watershed) to a geocaching combines navigation skills with outdoor adventure, and it’s fun for all ages!
Here’s how it works:
- Print out the Willamette River Festival Geocache Treasure Hunt clue sheet
- Navigate to a specific set of GPS coordinates indicated in the clues, and attempt to find a hidden container (the geocache).
- Inside the container, will be the answer to the clue, and sometimes a treasure that you can take with you! (If there is more than one treasure in the box, please only take one so others can find a treasure too!) Once you find the answer to your clue, sign the logbook and write down the answer to your clue on your clue sheet.
- Submit your completed answers here. Your submission is your “ticket” to our festival “prize cache” – a special drawing dedicated to all our participants featuring some amazing items sponsored by the City of Eugene, Willamette Riverkeeper, paddlesports industry partners, and local businesses! EACH CORRECT ANSWER will win you a chance! We will announce winners on Facebook, August 22 at 5PM and post all winners online.
As an extra bonus, you can reference this map to help you find your way! Note: the color of the stars on the map connects to each clue. Good luck!
